Overview
Associate/senior associate (Private client) - Lodders Solicitors LLP. We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Associate or Senior Associate to join our Private Client team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a STEP-qualified solicitor with 5+ years PQE to manage a diverse and complex caseload involving high-net-worth estates, with expertise in inheritance tax, estate planning, and administration.
Responsibilities
* Leading the management of complex high-net-worth estates from initial instruction to successful conclusion.
* Advising clients on Agricultural and Business Property Relief (APR/BPR), Inheritance Tax (IHT) reliefs, and exemptions to optimise estate planning.
* Handling cross-border estate matters, including resealing foreign grants and managing foreign assets.
* Preparing detailed IHT returns and comprehensive estate accounts with accuracy and care.
* Providing expert advice on post-death tax planning and restructuring strategies to minimise liabilities.
* Assessing the impact of lifetime gifts on death and advising clients on effective planning.
* Navigating settled property and aggregable assets issues within estate plans.
* Calculating grossing-up for IHT purposes to ensure compliance and clarity.
* Prioritising and managing a varied caseload efficiently, meeting deadlines consistently.
* Working independently while collaborating closely with team members to deliver the best client outcomes.
* Communicating clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties, building trusted relationships throughout.
What you will bring
* Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
* Full STEP qualification and a strong track record in managing complex private client matters.
* In-depth technical expertise in inheritance tax, estate administration, and related areas.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality legal advice.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels.
* Ability to work well independently and as part of a supportive team.
