Corrosion & Coating Engineer (Associate Director)
Location: Leatherhead
Type of Contract: 24 months
CCL Global is seeking an experienced Corrosion & Coating Engineer to oversee all protection and coatings activities on our projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, coating systems and project delivery practices.
Responsibilities
* Lead all corrosion and coating disciplines, responsible for PFP, insulation and GRE qualification and application.
* Ensure contractor, subcontractor and vendor deliverables comply with technical and contractual requirements.
* Supervise qualification, audits, testing, fabrication and construction activities in contractor and subcontractor workshops or worksites.
* Act as the focal point for all discipline-related matters and liaise with company HQ specialists.
* Design cathodic protection systems and select/apply painting and coating systems.
* Apply international codes, company specifications and project technical references to develop discipline‑specific instructions.
* Coordinate material, corrosion and coating engineering activities of EPC contractors.
* Review design and engineering documentation, qualification, manufacturing and test procedures, quality control plans and training records for compliance.
* Respond to technical queries, deviation requests and non‑conformities; track corrective actions with contractors and vendors.
* Participate in routine and ad‑hoc meetings, audits, HAZOP/HAZID reviews and production reviews.
* Provide technical support and enforce package‑level decisions.
* Ensure proper shop facilities, inspection equipment and training for manufacturing and inspection activities.
* Monitor and control implementation of approved procedures, surveillance plans and test plans.
* Maintain confidentiality of all project documentation.
* Support site‑level HSE activities and contribute to lessons‑learned reporting.
Key Duties
* Develop and review discipline‑specific instructions, drawings and specifications.
* Ensure compliance with quality control plans and manufacturing records.
* Track non‑conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
* Participate in HAZOP/HAZID, REX and close‑out activities.
* Report progress and schedule slippages related to corrosion and coating activities.
Requirements
* Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects.
* 10 years as a corrosion/coating engineer with knowledge of CO2/H2S and H2S cracking.
* Proficiency in international codes and standards; company specifications are a plus.
* Experience with corrosion modelling and PRECORR software is a plus.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
* Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
