Justteachers are currently seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Teaching Assistants to support a range of primary and secondary schools across Harrogate. These roles are ideal for candidates with transferable skills from childcare, youth work, support work, customer‑facing roles, or other people‑focused backgrounds who are looking to begin or develop a career in education.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in supporting pupils’ learning, helping teachers deliver engaging lessons, and contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support teaching staff in delivering lessons across different age groups
* Provide 1:1 and small‑group learning support to pupils
* Help maintain a calm, safe and engaging classroom environment
* Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and activities
* Encourage pupils’ confidence, participation, and independence
* Follow behaviour‑management strategies in line with school policies
* Provide support for pupils with additional learning or SEN needs where required
* Supervise students during lessons, breaktimes, and transitions
* Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
Pre‑Requisites
* Transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, or experience working with children or young people
* Previous TA or school experience is beneficial
* Willingness to learn, take direction, and support pupils of varying abilities
* A patient, empathetic, and positive approach
* Reliable, proactive, and able to adapt to different classroom environments
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students
