Job Title: Bioresources Maintenance Technician Apprentice (Wastewater)
Location - Northampton and the surrounding areas
Start date - August 2026
Starting Salary: £18,000 (increasing to £23,500 in your second year!)

As a Bioresources Maintenance Technician Apprentice, youll learn how to look after the equipment that keeps our wastewater treatment sites operating safely and efficiently. You dont need experience in engineering or the water industry-well teach you everything you need to know.
Youll split your time between college‑based learning and hands‑on experience at our sites, working alongside experienced technicians and gaining real‑world skills that last a lifetime.
This is a hands-on practical role working outside in a variety of weather; the work is varied, rewarding and at times challenging, but no two days are the same! Once qualified, youll join a 24/7 standby rota because your role is vital.

What youll do:
* Inspect, maintain and care for essential assets and equipment
* Support fault diagnosis and keep equipment running efficiently
* Work and learn alongside experienced mechanical and electrical technicians and follow health & safety rules
* Take ownership of your development and contribute to team success
What were looking for:
* English, Maths and Science GCSEs (grades 9-4/A*-C), we can also accept Level 2 Functional Skills - predicted grades will be accepted if you have not yet completed your exams
* Genuine interest in the water industry and protecting the environment
* Good communication skills and a team mindset
* Willingness to work outdoors and learn new things
If you do not currently hold a full UK driving licence, youll need to obtain one by the end of year two of the programme, or if this isnt possible due to your age, within one year of your 17th birthday.
