Data and digital innovation are core to achieving our vision, and we are seeking a new Head of Data and Applications to lead us on this journey. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role — shaping and delivering Mencap’s data and application strategies, while developing and empowering a talented team of around 20 colleagues. What the role involves: Developing, championing, and leading our data and application vision, strategies, architecture, and roadmaps. Leading all things data governance, quality, stewardship, ownership, literacy, and standards across Mencap. Building and maintaining brilliant products that enhance colleague experience, productivity, and organisational value. Collaborating and partnering across the organisation to identify priorities and deliver against backlogs. Representing Mencap on data and digital topics internally and externally, being a positive and influential voice for change. Driving the innovative use of data and Artificial Intelligence to deliver transformational outcomes. This is a hybrid role. Flexible, with travel expected to the London and Peterborough offices on occasion. About you: You are a passionate leader who cares deeply about using data and technology to improve lives. You bring a collaborative and inclusive approach, are positive and brave in the face of challenge, and are always kind and professional in how you work with others. You will have: Significant senior leadership experience in data and application development. A strong track record of developing and delivering data and application strategies, including the use of low-code platforms. Deep expertise across all aspects of data management — architecture, governance, BI, security, and privacy. Practical experience using modern data platforms (ideally Microsoft Fabric) to deliver outstanding insight and business intelligence solutions. A strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, product management and portfolio delivery. Experience of applying Artificial Intelligence to drive positive, transformational outcomes. Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex data and tech concepts to a wide range of audiences. A passion for learning about, and improving the lives of, people with a learning disability.
