Rail Surveyor Birmingham / Manchester / Liverpool £30,000 £38,000 (plus shift allowance/overtime Company Van) We are working with a leading surveying firm that is expanding its rail division and looking to add a Rail Surveyor with solid experience in delivering high-quality rail surveys. If you have a track record on rail infrastructure, this could be the opportunity for you. The Role: This is a field-based role focused on delivering small to medium-scale rail survey projects across the North Midlands and North West, primarily between Birmingham Liverpool and Manchester. The successful candidate will work on a wide range of survey types, including plain line, S&C, gauging, and OLE height and stagger surveys. The role is 98% night shift work (Monday to Thursday), with weekend work also required on occasion. Key Responsibilities: Carrying out topographic and track-based rail surveys using GNSS, Total Stations, and TMDs Planning and executing control networks and traversing Delivering fence-to-fence boundary surveys, S&C and gauging surveys Office-based processing of survey data into CAD drawings and point cloud registration Ensuring equipment maintenance, QA/QC compliance, and adherence to health and safety protocols What Were Looking For: Minimum 2 years' experience in land and rail surveying Strong understanding of GNSS surveys, control networks, traversing, and levelling Proficient in AutoCAD and point cloud processing PTS and COSS certification essential Experience using TMDs and laser scanning equipment is desirable Full UK driving licence Flexible, proactive and able to work night shifts consistently Benefits: Salary between £30,000£38,000 (DOE) Company van Overtime available Opportunity to focus purely on rail infrastructure work Work with a highly skilled, supportive team How to Apply: MGR Recruitment is acting as an employment business for this vacancy.
