Volunteers need to support vintage cafe in Offerton, Stockport

This volunteering role supporting our vintage café within our older people’s mental health services. If you are friendly, chatty and want to help please apply for this role

Main duties of the job

What the role involves:

· Help create a welcoming, warm and friendly social cafe

· Support patients to engage with the cafe

· Promote the benefits in engaging with social and therapeutic activities

· Help to run activities within the cafe

· Help set up and clear away the café area,

· Help prepare and serve refreshments to patients, carers, visitors and staff

· Encourage conversations between those attending the cafe

DBS Level for this role is: Standard

* Great communication skills
* An empathetic and caring nature
* Good organisation skills
* Punctuality and reliability
* Experience/knowledge/interest in mental health.
* Have an interesting hobby eg. Knitting, music, quizzing

Volunteer Recruitment

Applying to become a volunteer may seem a little daunting for some people however, the volunteer service is here to guide and support you through the process. Please contact us on 0161 716 3365 or email volunteering.penninecare@nhs.net if you would like support to complete the online application form

Please be aware that due to the robust process, recruitment can sometimes take a few weeks.

Throughout the process you will have informal meetings with us and the service where you will be volunteering. In addition to this we will require you to:

* Complete an identity (ID) check
* Complete a Disclosure and Barring Service* (DBS) check,
* Complete an Occupational health assessment
* Give details for two references
* Complete relevant training.

*Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

DBS checks for volunteers are free and the level of check is dependent on the role you are undertaking.
