* Position: Drainage Engineer
* Location: Kidlington Depot, Thames Valley Region (Kidlington, Oxfordshire)
* Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
* Hours: 4 days on, 4 days off (40.25 hours)
* Salary: OTE £34,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on‑call allowance and bonuses)
About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking for customer‑focused people to join our Utility Division on the Thames Water contract to deliver real, effective solutions to waste‑water network and drainage problems.
Responsibilities
* Travel to residential sites via HGV in a two‑person team, using a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on specialist equipment.
* Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
* Deliver good customer service.
* Maintain good H&S practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site set‑ups.
* Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, using correct PPE and lone‑worker systems.
* Dynamic risk assessment of site access and working conditions.
* Provide support to colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions in training.
* Carry out risk assessments and maintain a mature approach to risk perception.
* Adhere to all Lanes Group policies and responsibilities.
* Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be hard‑working and respectful, and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in using high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA, Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
