🚨 Project Manager – Rolling Stock
We’re looking for a Project Manager to support rolling stock projects across modifications, upgrades, overhauls, and maintenance programmes.
This is a broad, delivery-focused role where you’ll be responsible for keeping projects on track across time, cost, quality, and safety, while working closely with operations, engineering, and commercial teams.

What you’ll be doing:
1. Leading delivery of rolling stock projects including modifications, upgrades, overhauls and maintenance programmes
2. Managing project plans, budgets, risks, and resources across the full lifecycle
3. Working closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to keep delivery aligned
4. Coordinating materials and ensuring everything is available in line with programme requirements
5. Monitoring project performance and reporting progress, risks, and financials
6. Leading project reviews, milestone checks, and final handover to the customer
7. Acting as the main point of contact for customers and managing relationships throughout delivery
8. Supporting bid/proposal stages where needed, including feasibility and cost input
9. Driving continuous improvement and identifying opportunities across projects
What we’re looking for:
10. Proven experience delivering projects in an engineering or rail environment
11. Strong understanding of project controls (planning, cost, risk, reporting)
12. Experience working across multidisciplinary teams
13. Good commercial awareness and experience managing suppliers or contracts
14. Strong communication skills — comfortable working with customers and stakeholders
15. Degree qualified (or equivalent experience)
16. Knowledge of health & safety and safety management systems
Nice to have:
17. Experience within rolling stock or rail operations
18. Professional project management qualification (APM or similar)
19. Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to delivery — balancing technical, commercial, and operational challenges while keeping projects moving forward.
