Main Purpose of the Role

As a Support Worker, you will:

Reporting Structure
* Responsible to: General / Project Manager
* Responsible for: Your own health, safety, and welfare, as well as that of colleagues and residents, in line with organisational policies and safeguarding standards.
Person Specification Essential Experience and Skills
* Understanding of the needs of people in crisis, with experience responding with care and sensitivity.
* Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, addiction, and mental health.
* Experience supporting vulnerable adults (e.g. those with addictions or mental health needs) is an advantage.
* Ability to carry out risk and needs assessments and support individuals displaying challenging behaviours or personality disorders.
* Proven experience working within a team environment to achieve successful outcomes, with evidence of effective planning and prioritisation.
* Experience managing a caseload, creating and implementing tailored support plans.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative and positively influence others.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
* Evidence of Health & Safety and/or First Aid training.
* ICT and MS Office skills.
* Care Certificate (or willingness to train).
* Health and Social Care Level 2-3 (training can be provided).

Note: This role involves working with vulnerable adults. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check for regulated activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Follow instructions from the Manager or senior staff regarding care and specific tasks.
* Carry out regular wellbeing checks on residents while respecting their privacy.
* Conduct building checks for fire prevention and health & safety compliance.
* Respond to resident calls and emergencies (following lone-working policy), contacting appropriate services if required.
* Support residents in attending group meetings, fellowship activities, and recovery programs.
* Undertake domestic tasks as directed, maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control.
* Participate in training sessions and learn to:
* Set goals with residents and document progress.
* Carry out key working (one-to-one) sessions.
* Complete accurate handover notes.
* Conduct drug and alcohol testing when required.
* Encourage residents to socialise, participate in activities, and remain motivated.
* Remain vigilant and report any concerns of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglectful, financial, or institutional) immediately.
* Engage in staff handovers, meetings, supervision sessions, and appraisals.
* Support residents in attending mutual aid groups (AA/NA/CA), church services, or other wellbeing activities as part of their recovery journey.
* Monitor and assist residents with household tasks and personal responsibilities.
