We are currentlyrecruiting for Bank Staff Nurses to join the team at our InPatient Unit. Previouspalliative care experience is not essential but a passion for providingexcellent nursing care in a small team is.
You will assessindividual care needs and develop appropriate care plans using a holisticapproach, providing information, advice and support to patients, families andcarers. You will also provide support to Nursing Support Assistantsas required and maintain accurate nursing records using our patient informationsystem.
To be considered forthis role you will need to be a level one registered nurse and interested indeveloping your skills in a palliative care setting. Previous experience of working withterminally ill patients or in an oncology setting would be desirable but notessential. As part of a small team, youwill need to be flexible and a good team player.
Shifts available - days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
· Responsiblefor assessing the individual care needs of patients and developing appropriatecare plans to implement and evaluate the care using a holistic approach inaccordance with Isabel Hospice working practices.
· Tomonitor the quality of care, promoting high standards in accordance with thepolicies of Isabel Hospice and the Care Quality Commission standards.
· Provideinformation, advice and support to patients, families and carers face to faceand via the advice line and to be aware of escalation procedures.
· Understandthe role of volunteers and work with them in the provision of care for patientsand relatives.
· Demonstrateinterpersonal skills that promote clarity, compassion, empathy, respect andtrust.

Isabel Hospice has been providing free palliative care to its patients and their families since 1982, providing support and care to people in eastern Hertfordshire who are affected by life-limiting illnesses through a range of different services.

· Maintain a high standard of infectioncontrol at all times, keeping up to date with infection control procedures.
· Ensureclear, concise, accurate records are made and that all communication ismaintained in relation to care delivery adhering to local & nationalguidance.
· Workas part of the Isabel Hospice multi disciplinary team in the provision andcoordination of holistic care.
· Toparticipate in audits, as required.
· Communicateeffectively across a wide range of channels and with a wide range ofindividuals, the public, health & social care professionals, maintainingthe focus of communication on delivering and improving health and careservices.
