Security Operations (SecOps) Engineer – Government Cloud
Mastek UK is hiring a Security Operations (SecOps) Engineer to support one of the UK’s most secure and technically complex government cloud programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high‑assurance public sector environment, contributing to national‑scale, mission‑critical services.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Maintain and update Security Operating Procedures (SyOps) and information security policies
* Review designs, technical documentation, and implementation plans for security compliance
* Conduct threat modelling and security risk assessments
* Provide assurance over patching, releases, and change activities
* Perform and review vulnerability scans and remediation plans
* Investigate and manage security incidents, ensuring clear reporting and follow‑up
* Create and track ITHC Remediation Action Plans
* Support cryptographic controls and certificate management
* Review access requests and support Joiner/Mover/Leaver processes
* Promote a strong security awareness culture across delivery teams
* 5+ years in SecOps, Information Security, or Security Consulting roles
* Strong knowledge of Home Office security policies, governance & GSC framework
* Experience in secure government cloud or digital transformation programmes
* Hands‑on experience with incident investigation and vulnerability management
* Excellent communication skills (technical & non‑technical stakeholders)
* Willingness to travel within the UK (Croydon / Birmingham as needed)
* Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CCSP, ISO 27001)
* Experience with CNI or high‑assurance programmes
* Cloud security & accreditation knowledge
* GDPR and regulatory compliance awareness
* Agile tools: Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow
* Experience contributing to government bid responses / presales security
