Overview

Kentro is hiring an experienced Customer Service Engineer (System Administrator) to support our VA-ESOM-End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The VA provides onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government-furnished IT equipment and infrastructure.

The work involves interacting with customers, diagnosing problems, and guiding users through corrective steps. It includes routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs.


Responsibilities

* Support the Government with installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of computer systems and equipment to ensure optimal operation and user satisfaction.
* Deliver remote and desk-side technical support, respond to IT tickets, and perform diagnostic and repair activities on hardware and software components.
* Set up and maintain user accounts, interface with software applications, compile reports, and respond to customer requests.
* Maintain Active Directory and other system accounts, support connectivity and client applications, and assist in configuring and supporting local and wide area network services.
* Monitor open tickets in VA’s ServiceNow system to ensure adherence to business processes; report discrepancies with proposed corrective actions for approval.
* Recognize a work environment involving sedentary and active elements; handle electronic components safely to prevent injuries or equipment damage.
* Utilize debugging protocols and processes; troubleshoot problems identified by customers and implement corrective actions quickly.
* Facilitate equipment returns, deployments, unboxing, inventorying, and verification.
* Possess the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks such as bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, climbing, and crawling to access and repair equipment; stand and move throughout the work area for prolonged periods.

* Onsite VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center, 8495 Crater Lake Hwy, White City, OR 97503


Duration

This role has an estimated duration of one year, with a possibility of extension.


Travel

* Surge capacity may be required during temporary periods of increased workload; travel could be up to two (2) weeks, with prior discussion and coordination.
* Overtime is not authorized for any surge capacity work.
* Work-related travel expenses are out-of-pocket with reimbursement per Kentro policy; per diem for meals and lodging is provided based on GSA rates.


Health Requirements

This position provides on-site support for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which may impose facility-specific vaccination and testing requirements. If selected, candidates may be required to show proof that vaccinations and tests are current. The VHA will provide guidance on required documents and accommodations.

* Vaccines may include COVID-19, Influenza, MMR, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
* Testing may include Tuberculosis.


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another technical discipline, or 8 years of relevant experience substituted for education.
* 2+ years of IT technical support, help desk, or system administration experience.
* Ability to meet the physical requirements described in the job description.


Preferred

* Experience in routine system administration tasks and logging data in system admin logs.
* Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes; proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic Windows system administration.


Clearance

* US Citizen or Green Card holder.
* Willing and able to obtain a Public Trust Suitability clearance.
* Must meet updated ID requirements.
