Company Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team at our Chirk manufacturing facility.
Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise plant availability and operational efficiency.
This position operates on a rotating 4 on, 4 off shift pattern covering 12-hour day and night shifts.
Job Description
1. Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across the manufacturing plant.
2. Diagnose and repair electrical faults on a wide range of production equipment and machinery.
3. Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
4. Conduct fault finding on electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
5. Support continuous improvement projects aimed at improving plant reliability and performance.
6. Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately using maintenance management systems.
7. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
8. Work closely with production teams to support efficient manufacturing operations.
9. Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
10. Assist in identifying root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is proactive, safety-conscious, and capable of working effectively in a demanding manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
11. Experience working in an electrical maintenance role within manufacturing, industrial, or process environments.
12. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
13. Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
14. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motors, drives, inverters, and control circuits.
15. The ability to work independently and as part of a shift team.
16. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
17. Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
18. Time-served Electrical Apprenticeship preferred.
19. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification desirable, not essential.
20. Experience within a heavy manufacturing, wood products, process, FMCG, or industrial environment would be advantageous.
21. Knowledge of PLC fault-finding and industrial automation systems is highly desirable.
