Job Description
To support the efficient operation of all stores activities across the site. The role involves the accurate receipt, handling, storage, issuing and dispatch of materials and equipment. The Stores Operative will use the SAP system for all stock transactions, including receipting, landing, stock movements, cycle counts, and documentation tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure all Stores operations comply with Company Quality, Health & Safety, and Financial Systems.
* Process all receipts, landings, stock adjustments and goods movements using the SAP system.
* Accurately receipt and inspect all incoming goods, ensuring correct quantities, documentation, and quality.
* Label, store and locate stock in designated, controlled areas in a safe, tidy and efficient manner.
* Issue materials, consumables and equipment to projects, ensuring SAP records are updated in real time.
* Ensure Stores requisitions are completed for all withdrawals and that audit trails are maintained.
* Monitor stock levels and support replenishment and material availability updates.
* Maintain stock accuracy by supporting regular cycle counts, annual stock checks and investigations into variances.
* Maintain registers, logs and day books as required, including SAP transaction logs.
* Coordinate the physical dispatch of goods, including packaging, documentation and liaison with hauliers.
* Carry out equipment assessments when loading/unloading and select appropriate handling equipment.
* Store, deliver or collect materials and/or equipment using the appropriate vehicle.
o Operate side loader equipment safely for movement and storage of long or bulky materials.
o Operate forklift trucks (FLT) in accordance with Company safety procedures and licensing requirements.
o Carry out pre-use checks on side loaders, forklifts and MEWP trucks, reporting any defects immediately.
o Use MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) trucks safely for accessing high-level storage areas.
o Use of overhead cranes and Renmart saw.
o Ensure all machinery operations comply with Health & Safety regulations and Company policies.
* Issue, receive and track portable tools; coordinate internal repairs, servicing and calibration activities.
* Respond to queries and issues raised by internal departments in a timely and professional manner.
* Support overtime, weekend working or urgent operational requirements as needed.
* Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by the Stores Controller or Stores Supervisor
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Math’s and English qualifications.
* Experience working within a Stores, Warehouse or Logistics environment.
* Ability to use computerised stock systems (SAP experience is highly desirable).
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.
* Experience with goods-in inspection or quality processes.
Key Interpersonal / Behavioural Skills
* Good organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work well as part of a team and build effective working relationships.
