This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team, committed to providing a professional service responding to statutory emergencies and other social work matters arising outside of business as usual hours, within both the Childcare and Adult arenas that cannot be safely left until the following business as usual day.
The Emergency Duty Team operates outside of core business hours and provides an Out of Hours service across Lancashire.
The practice manager role entails managing a shift comprising of social workers and call takers; screening and allocating of work coming into the team via a number of different workflows, providing robust manager oversight of case work, undertaking confident and competent decision making as to the progression and outcome of cases, underpinned by relevant legislation, policies and procedures, chairing strategy discussions, providing guidance, support and direction to the team, alongside quality supervision and auditing of work.
Ideally, applicants will be senior social workers or above, with a minimum of 4 years statutory childcare experience within a front line team. Experience of adult safeguarding will also be advantageous, however training will be provided.
The team is comprised of 1 Team Manager, 4 Practice Managers, 12 Social Workers, and is supported by a number of customer service advisors (call takers).
An EDT practice manager works to a rolling rota across a range of shifts covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to which appropriate out of hours enhancements are paid. There will be a requirement for flexibility, to ensure the team retains sufficient management cover across shifts, or to cover occasional sickness or an overnight shift to ensure the team continues to provide a robust out of hours social work service across Lancashire. The practice managers will when required, undertake some social work tasks to support the team in providing this service.
The team currently work from home during the week and from the office base in Accrington, Lancashire at weekends. This arrangement remains under constant review, to ensure the team enjoy a healthy work life balance, as well as continuing to meet business need. Applicants applying for the role must be able to undertake visits across the County of Lancashire, if required, during their shift, including when working form home.
Out of Hours enhancements are calculated in accordance with hours worked outside of core business hours.

The Emergency Duty Team covers the County of Lancashire, with the exception of Blackpool and Blackburn, and is based at Lancashire House, Enterprise Way, Accrington.
