We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to play a key role in the financial leadership of our college. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will oversee the day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring robust financial control, compliance and high‑quality reporting to support effective decision‑making across the organisation. What you’ll be doing Leading the college’s financial control activities, including month‑end close, balance sheet management and cashflow forecasting Producing accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports for senior leaders and governors Ensuring compliance with ESFA, funding body and statutory reporting requirements Managing external and internal audits and acting as a key point of contact for auditors Overseeing financial systems Supporting budget holders with financial guidance, analysis and challenge Driving continuous improvement in financial processes, controls and systems Leading and developing a small finance team, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence Further Information About you A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven experience in financial control and reporting Highly organised, detail‑focused and able to work to deadlines in a complex environment Confident communicator, able to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues A collaborative leader who enjoys developing people and working cross‑organisation Experience in education, public sector or not‑for‑profit environments is desirable but not essential The role is a full time role, however reduced hours could be considered About Us At Coastland College, our purpose is simple: to inspire students and apprentices for success beyond expectation.
