Job Summary
Van National — the Midlands' Largest Independent Van Supermarket — is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Workshop Controller to join our friendly team in Stoke-on-Trent.
Due to continued rapid growth, this is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied, hands-on role supporting our workshop and management team to keep everything running smoothly — from paperwork and progress chasing to keeping the yard organised.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and engage your team to deliver monthly results and targets.
Plan, allocate, and monitor work across the workshop team.
Drive performance of technicians to maximise efficiency, productivity, and utilisation while maintaining Van National's quality standards.
Monitor progress of preparation and repairs, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Support and motivate technicians, providing guidance where needed.
Maintain compliance with health & safety and company standards.
Work with multiple internal and external platforms to achieve and exceed daily and weekly targets.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and workshop performance.
Act as the central point of contact for the service and management teams.
Assist management with daily operations, administrative tasks, and reporting.
---About You
Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or Senior Technician (essential).
Strong technical understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to manage workloads, delegate effectively, and keep the team focused.
Proactive with strong problem-solving abilities.
Full UK driving license.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Able to multitask and work under pressure in a busy environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfortable with both office-based tasks and practical duties.
Competent with basic IT systems (email, spreadsheets, job management systems).
Positive attitude, team player, and willing to get stuck in when needed.
