Purpose of the Role
The Occupational Hygienist will be responsible for protecting and promoting employee health and wellbeing by identifying, evaluating and controlling workplace health risks. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role supports the organisation in meeting legal obligations, industry best practice and internal wellbeing standards across operational sites and offices.
Key Responsibilities
* Occupational Health & Wellbeing
* Identify, assess, and manage workplace health hazards, including exposure to noise, dusts, fumes, chemicals, vibration and biological agents.
* Undertake occupational hygiene monitoring and surveys, interpreting results against relevant legislation, standards and guidance.
* Provide expert advice on control measures using the hierarchy of control to reduce health risks and improve working conditions.
* Support the development and delivery of health surveillance programmes where required.
Compliance & Assurance
* Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice.
* Prepare clear technical reports, risk assessments and exposure summaries for internal stakeholders and regulators.
* Support internal and external audits, inspections and investigations related to health risks.
* Maintain accurate records and data in line with legal and organisational requirements.
* Advisory & Engagement
* Act as a trusted advisor to operational teams, management and wellbeing leads on occupational health matters.
* Contribute to wellbeing initiatives, occupational health strategies, and continuous improvement programmes.
* Provide training, guidance, and awareness sessions to improve understanding of occupational health risks and controls.
* Collaborate with safety, wellbeing, HR and operational teams to embed health risk management into everyday activities.

* Monitor emerging health risks, industry trends, and changes in legislation.
* Promote innovation and best practice in occupational hygiene and workplace wellbeing.
* Support incident investigations and root cause analysis where health exposures are involved
