We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Engineer - Verification and Validation Capability.

Role Purpose

The Development Engineering organisation is accountable for demonstrating that the SMR power station design meets its objectives and requirements. It is also accountable for providing data and evidence to support the development and delivery of the power station through the execution of verification and validation activities, testing, demonstration and research and technology programmes. This encompasses not just the domain of nuclear engineering, but the broader range of engineering and operations functions necessary to deliver a major infrastructure project.

Reporting to the Capability Manager, V&V Capability Engineers are a crucial part of ensuring Project delivery objectives can be met. Rolls Royce SMR welcomes Engineers with a wide range of experience and skills as it develops its business across diverse technologies. Throughout the V&V lifecycle, a key part of Senior V&V Engineer’s role will be to coach other V&V Engineers, to develop the team’s overall capability, and to provide technical review of the team’s outputs.

For this role we welcome applications from people with varying levels of experience from good engineers who can apply their practical experience to strong experienced engineers with significant experience in V&V, particularly useful is experience in the tools and processes related to requirements-based V&V. - Ensuring technical quality, competency & safety requirements are met in the Development supply chain, resulting in zero harm and right first-time delivery.

Key Selection Criteria

- Experience in verification and validation of new products, ideally in a safety-critical and highly-regulated industry (experience within the nuclear industry in particular would be desirable, but is not essential – we will also consider experience with other forms of power generation, as well as process industry, oil & gas etc).

-Good interpersonal & communication skills, able to bring people together and solve problems as a multi-disciplinary team (e.g. Design & Development). As the Verification and Validation Capability Engineer works cross disciplines, being able to engage and understand what needs to be delivered as well as influence other engineering teams to ensure systems engineering needs are met is essential.

-Has a systems-thinking mindset with practical experience of using Systems Engineering toolsets & techniques to deliver positive outcomes. Demonstrates a clear, analytical and methodical approach, able to manage change and uncertainty.
