Overview
The Northern Neonatal Network Operational Delivery Network (NNN ODN) spans the North East of England and North Cumbria (NENC). It includes 8 provider Trusts, 10 neonatal units – 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), 7 Special Care Units (SCUs) – and a neonatal transport provider for safe transfers of premature and sick infants. The ODN is clinical and operational in focus, aiming to support high‑quality care and deliver the best possible outcomes for babies and their families through regional education and training programmes.
As part of its remit the NNN ODN will lead the implementation of the Neonatal Critical Care Review (NCCR), focusing on expert workforce development to uphold the highest standards of safe, effective neonatal care.
Role Summary
The Nurse Education Lead will provide strategic leadership of the Network education provision. Responsibilities include:
* Planning and delivering educational events to meet Network objectives.
* Ensuring consistent and equitable training programmes across the North East North Cumbria region.
* Maintaining and enhancing links with Further Education institutions to support ongoing training for specific neonatal care pathways.
* Providing quality assurance for education delivered by external providers, including Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and ensuring compliance with QIS Standards.
* Working collaboratively with education providers, unit managers, and unit educators to assess local training needs.
* Supporting the Network Medical Education Lead with stabilisation training and other ad‑hoc education events.
Contract Details
This is a fixed‑term contract/secondment of 1 year, subject to evaluation throughout the term.
