Overview
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of crucial assets, enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world‑class asset management organisation and respond to flood incidents as needed.
You will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across diverse geographic areas and assets.

The Team
Based in our South East MEICA Team, you will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as the technical lead on MEICA activity, providing mechanical support to team members and liaising with a wide range of business partners on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers. You will contribute to our response to flood incidents.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership to assure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across a diverse range of assets and geographic areas.
* Prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of MEICA assets to support flood protection and asset management.
* Work with external contractors to develop and implement world‑class asset management practices.
* Liaise with multiple business partners and lead on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
* Support technical investigations and incident response as required.
Experience / Skills Required
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience in leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge and experience of root cause analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.
* Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline.
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
* Role specific professional membership: I-Eng or C-Eng preferred but not essential.
Other Requirements
* You can be based at listed locations with occasional hybrid homeworking and site visits; therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.
* Interviews will be held face to face as a preference; video interviews may be considered under special circumstances (dates to be confirmed).
* All staff undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed.
