Job Summary
Lead Occupational Therapist (Complex Rehab Unit) – Broadgreen Hospital (University Hospitals of Liverpool).
Band 7 (Full time/permanent) – 37.5 hours per week.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who is interested in a full-time position as Band 7 Team Lead OT on the Phoenix Rehabilitation Unit at Broadgreen Hospital.
The Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides this unit as part of a hub‑and‑spoke arrangement for the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN). This is a unique collaborative pathway with seven partners that provides complex rehabilitation to patients following traumatic injury or illness and is based on need rather than diagnosis – the pathway goes from hyper‑acute to community care.
The Phoenix Unit on the Broadgreen site provides active rehabilitation for patients with complex functional loss, such as those with ABI, polytrauma and post‑critical care patients.
The role requires excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with complex patient cases and with team and staff situations.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the CMRN development groups and to contribute to the continued improvement of the pathway. The post will give the staff member opportunities to fully participate in the education, training, audits, research and service development projects undertaken by the CMRN.
There is currently a requirement to work contracted hours over six days, Monday – Saturday.
Key Responsibilities
This role involves expert rehabilitation of patients including the following aspects:
* Neurological assessment and rehabilitation techniques

You will contribute to the holistic care of the patient by supporting case conferences, best‑interest meetings and capacity assessments relating to discharge.
You will have the opportunity to provide training to OT students, other therapy students and the wider MDT and to promote the role of OT. The post holder will supervise junior staff, assistants and students, and senior oversight of the therapy team will include performance reporting, sickness management and supervision.
Participation in CMRN audits, research and personal and staff development will also be expected.
