Rate : A GBP 27.21 : A GBP 33.88 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
Role Overview:
As modern vehicles continue to evolve, customers are interacting with vehicles in increasingly innovative ways. We are seeking a Human Factors and Ergonomics Engineer to join a collaborative Human Factors team, supporting the delivery of customer:focused requirements for current and future vehicle programmes.
This role will suit an individual with experience in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Anthropometrics or User:Centred Design, with the opportunity to work across physical user controls and wider vehicle ergonomics, depending on project requirements and experience level.
Operating within a cross:functional engineering environment, the role involves developing and supporting Human Factors requirements, completing assessments and testing, analysing customer and quality data, and working closely with stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Engineer:
* Support and/or lead the development, cascading and ownership of Human Factors and Ergonomics requirements to deliver the best possible customer experience
* Provide Human Factors input into the development of physical user controls, interfaces and wider vehicle systems, ensuring requirements are met
* Complete Human Factors assessments and gateway testing (e.g. Human Error, Workload, Ergonomic Assessments) to support issue identification and resolution
* Analyse customer feedback and quality data relating to ergonomics and user controls, using insights to support requirement development and decision:making
* Collaborate with Engineering, Design, UX, Programme, Commercial and other stakeholders to resolve Human Factors and ergonomics:related issues
* Support requirement verification activities, including testing and report writing
* Contribute to competitor benchmarking, attribute development and future:focused studies
* Communicate Human Factors principles and findings clearly, using appropriate visual and technical methods to influence discussions
* Work within an Agile delivery environment where applicable, supporting planning and delivery activities
The ideal Human Factors and Ergonomics Engineer:
* Strong knowledge of Human Factors, Ergonomics and/or Anthropometrics, with an understanding of scientific principles relating to human performance, physiology and user interface design
* Ability to analyse technical and customer data to support requirement development, issue resolution and programme discussions
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex Human Factors concepts to a wide range of stakeholders
* Proven ability to work effectively in a fast:paced, collaborative engineering environment
* Experience working within an automotive or complex engineering organisation, with exposure to physical user controls, user interfaces and/or whole:vehicle ergonomics
* Familiarity with Agile ways of working and planning tools such as JIRA and Confluence
* Exposure to CAD tools (e.g. CATIA / 3DEXPERIENCE)
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Degree:level qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Anthropometrics, User:Centred Design, Product Design, User Experience Design, Design Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
