Plant Operator
Altera Recruitment is proud to be working on behalf of a long-standing, forward-thinking client in the energy-from-waste sector, currently seeking a Plant Operator for their high-performance facility in Wolverhampton.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Plant Operator looking to work with complex process equipment, including steam turbines, high-pressure boilers, and DCS control systems, as part of a skilled and safety-focused operations team.
Responsibilites of a Plant Operator:
* Monitor and operate the plant’s turbine and boiler systems to maintain optimal steam generation.
* Respond to system alarms, faults, or flow/pressure changes as part of planned or emergency maintenance.
* Accurately log operational data, emissions readings, and support daily shift handovers.
* Use overhead cranes and mobile plant (FLT/FLS) for waste movement and material handling.
* Support plant housekeeping, safety protocols, and permit-to-work procedures.
What you’ll need:
* Experience or understanding of boiler and steam turbine operations in an industrial or energy setting.
* Familiarity with control room operations, gauges, alarms, and system monitoring.
* Fork Lift Truck (FLT) and/or Front Loading Shovel (FLS) qualifications are desirable.
* Basic understanding of health & safety practices in hazardous plant environments.
* Willingness to work at height and in confined spaces as needed.
