Behaviour Support Worker – Mental Health & Behaviour (Newcastle, Gateshead & Durham) About the Role We’re looking for compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Workers to provide one-to-one and small group support for young people across Newcastle, Gateshead, and Durham. You’ll play a key role in improving mental health, emotional well-being, and educational engagement, working closely with schools, families, and professionals to make a real difference. What You’ll Do Support young people individually and in groups to build resilience, confidence, and positive coping strategies. Use effective behaviour management techniques to reduce barriers to learning and promote emotional regulation. Mentor and guide students to develop social skills and a growth mindset. Step in to deliver intervention programmes when required. Work collaboratively with teachers, mental health specialists, and families to create consistent support. Assess needs and implement tailored support plans. Manage crisis situations calmly, ensuring safety and well-being at all times.
