Overview

We are looking for a new Chief Learning Officer to join the senior management team of the Foundation and help us realise our ambitious plans for global expansion and impact.

If you want to help set the strategic direction of the Micro:bit Educational Foundation, have long lasting impact on millions of children globally, work with brilliant people both in the Foundation and in our partners, are ambitious, entrepreneurial and a natural collaborator, then this could be the job for you.

Role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be the Foundation's senior leader on subject knowledge and pedagogy, leading the further development of our global teaching and learning strategy. You will ensure that all of our products, resources, and learning experiences are practical, fun and engaging for students and teachers whilst reflecting the best educational and pedagogical research and evidence.

* Define and lead the organisation's education vision and output—overseeing production of teacher support, CPD, and learning solutions ensuring they align with global best practices and our organisational goals. You will work across the Foundation to shape understanding of our impact to ensure our programmes are high quality and effective
* Work collaboratively across the organization so that education is at the heart of everything that we do based on real community insight and research.
* Elevate the profile of the Foundation as a thought leader representing the organisation at key educational events and conferences, fostering a network of experts collaborating on quality learning around the micro:bit and our goals
* Develop and scale teaching networks and communities of professional development for teachers, including communities of practice globally


Requirements

* A demonstrable commitment to the mission and values of the Micro:bit Education Foundation
* A significant background in education, whether in teaching, curriculum development, learning experience design, or research
* Deep subject matter and pedagogical expertise in the field of computing, computer science, digital making and wider digital skills.
* An effective communicator, with significant experience of writing and public speaking. Articulate, with the ability to translate complex information for a range of audiences
* An experienced manager and leader, with the ability to build diverse teams and support them to do great work; ideally you will have experience of managing remote teams
* Experience of working internationally within a range of educational settings and contexts
* Natural collaboration skills, able to work across teams and a track record of working with colleagues to achieve results
* Bringing a creative approach and editorial vision to production of education content and activity
* Excellent stakeholder management, including collaboration across a broad range of educational leadership and high-profile partnerships
* Deep understanding of teacher audience and experience and background in bringing that to development of education and marketing campaigns


Experience

Benefits

Salary £75,000 - £85,000 per annum

Once probationary period is complete, contractual benefits include; group private medical and group life insurance plan, EAP plan, flexibility in working hours, flexible annual leave policy (taking at least 20 days a year not including national holidays) and pension arrangement.
