SEN Teaching Assistant – Wakefield

We’re working with a fantastic SEND school in Wakefield that’s looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. The role involves supporting pupils with complex needs, helping them feel safe, seen, and supported—every single day.
Whether you’ve worked in a similar setting before or you’re ready to bring your experience into SEN, this is a school where staff are valued, wellbeing matters, and no two days are the same (in the best way).

What you’ll be doing:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with additional needs
• Helping pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or physical needs navigate the day
• Working closely with class teachers, therapists, and SENCOs
• Celebrating small wins and helping students shine in their own way
You’ll need:
• Experience working with children or young people (in any setting!)
• A calm, positive presence and brilliant communication skills
• A flexible, team-first attitude and a real desire to make a difference
• Any SEN-specific training is a bonus—but not essential
