Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic nurse to join the Shropshire Admiral Nurse Service. Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who offer expert practical, clinical and emotional support to families caring for a person living with dementia with complex needs. We are looking for a full-time Registered Nurse (adult/mental health/learning disability) with a passion for, and demonstrable track record of, providing person-centred and relationship-centred dementia care with a strong sense of advocacy and equalities for this client group. Combining direct work with families with supporting the best practice of health and social care professionals, you will call upon your knowledge of bio-psychosocial interventions to improve the experience and quality of life of families affected by dementia. The role includes seeing carers and families individually, running groups and providing education/training, as well as balancing a clinical caseload. Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical development as a specialist Nurse through regular clinical supervision and professional development opportunities. You’ll become a welcome part of a network of Admiral Nurses and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate training and develop professionally. Main duties of the job
The Admiral Nurse will support, deliver and coordinate relationship-centred dementia care within Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust in order to improve the experience of carers/families affected by dementia with complex needs. In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at a specialist level, the post holder will provide:
* Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs.
* Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care.
* Support with policy development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care.
* Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse (RNM/RNMH/RGN/RNLD).
* Willingness to complete Dementia UK’s Pre Admiral Nursing e-learning course prior to starting in post.
* Willingness to work towards continued professional and practice development through Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurse Academy, including the level 6 or 7 Admiral Nurse Competency Framework Module.
* Willingness to work towards a degree level qualification in dementia/older people’s care.
* Post-graduate training/education in dementia/older people.
* Willingness to gain a mentorship qualification.
Experience
Essential
* Post-registration clinical experience of working with people with dementia and their carers/supporters in different settings, including community.
* Experience of completing holistic nursing assessments.
* Experience of providing bio-psychosocial interventions.
* Experience of facilitating and delivering training.
* Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Knowledge of relevant policies/national strategy e.g. MCA/DoLS/ACP/NICE guideline/Care Act.
* Demonstrate all the 6 Admiral Nurse competencies: Person-centred care, Therapeutic skills, Triadic relationship centred working, Sharing knowledge, Delivering best practice, Critical reflective practice.
