Working as the businesses Electrical Engineer you will be the technical authority for the operation and maintenance of the business assets. Mainly ensuring compliance with the UK legislation, regulations and engineering standards. You will be solely responsible for the safe system of work providing safety from the system for all technical tasks performed within the business. Responsible for carrying out all technical compliance training and auditing, this will involve travel between all UK sites.
Acting as the system control engineer you will be responsible for the control and management of safety from the system when any work on plant and/or apparatus within the system is to be performed.
What you will do
Appointed in writing as the Authorising Engineer by the Managing Director.
Responsible for the review and implementation/adoption of the BayWa r.e. Safety Rules and associated Management Instructions.
Responsible for the training, development, authorisation and auditing of all personnel authorised under the safety rules.
Independently authorised under the safety rules.
Act as the technical authority for the company, ensuring that all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
Technically support SHEQ investigations where required.
Support the review of RAMS where safety from the system is required, including those proposed by subcontractors.
Responsible for reviewing HV site audits carried out by onsite staff.
Responsible for undertaking a minimum of 6 on-site audits per annum, of BayWa r.e. staff and Subcontractors performing HV works.
Support the field team and Asset Management team with identifying, securing, and delivering High Voltage works from 11kv to 132kV.
Support with pricing for HV works relating to new opportunities.
Lead the HV onboarding and adoption/integration of new assets into our operations and include them into our Safety Rules.
Support any internal electrical awareness training requirements
Assist our Projects entity in recommendations for build requirements and commissioning stages.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have experience and a solid track record of managing High Voltage systems and operational projects within the UK.
You will have a deep understanding of the EAWR, and ESCQR as well as other associated regulations.
We will be looking for candidates with a knowledge of key projects and customer/client base including key suppliers and competitors in HV infrastructure.
You will have an electrically biased background including a relevant Degree (or equivalent) qualification in electrical engineering or demonstrable experience in the electrical and or power generation industry.
Recognised safety qualifications such as IOSH/NEBOSH.
Naturally well prepared and organised, able to deal with competing priorities, manage a diverse workload and meet targets and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively influence and support both internal and external stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the role there is a requirement for a valid UK driving licence.
