Overview
Have you been looking for the chance to take on a senior leadership role where you can shape how an existing service grows and delivers even more value across the NHS? If you enjoy driving commercial performance, strengthening relationships and helping teams work smarter, this could be a great next step for you.
This is a brand‑new role at NHS SBS, created to bring dedicated focus, insight and leadership to framework uptake. You will help us maximise the value and impact of our established framework portfolio by increasing utilisation, enhancing commercial governance and supporting colleagues and customers with expert guidance. You will work closely with teams across the organisation to improve how our frameworks are adopted and experienced by NHS and public sector partners.
We can offer great career progression opportunities, the ability to be based anywhere across the UK, benefits that you can flex to meet your needs, and plenty of training and development opportunities.
You will travel to Salford regularly – around once per week – and work flexibly from home or other NHS SBS locations as needed.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading a focused approach to increasing framework uptake and commercial impact across NHS SBS’s established framework portfolio.
* Developing the Commercial Advisor team into a confident, high‑performing group with clear commercial goals.
* Delivering a multi‑year framework uptake strategy aligned to organisational priorities.
* Strengthening commercial governance, compliance and decision‑making structures.
* Building and maintaining senior‑level relationships across NHS Trusts, ICSs, arm’s‑length bodies and wider public sector partners.
* Uncovering and progressing new business development areas, feeding qualified opportunities into the wider Procurement team.
* Creating and embedding a robust, data‑driven performance and reporting approach.
What you’ll bring
* Strong senior commercial experience, ideally within NHS or wider public sector procurement.
* A track record of driving framework utilisation, supporting account growth and delivering commercial value.
* Confidence working with senior stakeholders in complex or multi‑organisational environments.
* Demonstrable experience leading and inspiring teams through operational or cultural change.
* Good understanding of UK procurement regulations including PCR 2015, the Procurement Act 2023 and PSR.
* Commercial insight with strong problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
* Political astuteness and comfortable driving change at pace in complex environments.
It would be great if you had
* Professional certifications such as MBA, CPSM, PRINCE2 or PMP.
* CIPS Level 5 or above.
