CNC Machinist – Programmer

The Role
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for the efficient setting, programming, and operation of CNC machines. You will ensure maximum productivity while adhering to the highest quality standards, conducting thorough inspections, and optimizing setups to maintain peak performance.
Machine Specifications by Site
* Tonyrefail: Specializing in Mazak machines using Mazatrol.
* Bridgwater: A mix of Mazak (65% Mazatrol) and Fanuc/Heidenhain (35% G-code)
Key Responsibilities
* Programming & Setting: Efficiently set up and operate CNC mills and lathes. You will be expected to alter programming and sharpen tools to enhance production levels.
* Quality Control: Conduct rigorous self-inspections of produced parts using calipers and micrometers to ensure 100% adherence to tolerances.
* Collaboration & Support: Assist other operators with machine setups and maintain open communication with Team Leaders regarding production timelines.
* Mentorship: Actively support the development of apprentices by sharing technical expertise and practical machining knowledge.
* Operational Excellence: Maintain a clean, organized workspace and strictly adhere to Group Health and Safety policies (PPE, hazard reporting, etc.).
Shift Patterns
* Shift 1: Monday – Thursday (06:00 – 14:30), Friday (06:00 – 12:00)
* Shift 2: Monday – Thursday (14:30 – 23:00), Friday (12:00 – 18:00)
* Note: A 15% shift allowance is applied to the base salary.
Requirements
Education:

* High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in CNC machining or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
Technical Skills:
*
* Proven experience setting and operating CNC machines (Mills/Lathes).
* Ability to program via Mazatrol, G-code, or CAM software.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical blueprints.
* Strong understanding of basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
