Your role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant team who are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and their families. It is an exciting time to join Children’s Services in Wigan as we are significantly investing into the teams that support children with SEND. Increased staffing levels will mean that you are able to focus on what really matters and play your part in improving outcomes for children and young people.
In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the SEND Team to meet its statutory requirements in line with the SEND Code of Practice. You will have a dedicated caseload of new Education Care Needs Assessments and will be responsible for coordinating the process.
You will be required to analyse and interpret advice provided by key stakeholders from across education, health and care to draft high quality EHC Plan’s which meet the SEND Code of Practice’s requirements and the Local Authorities high standards.
You will act as a key point of contact for parent/carers, children and young people and schools/settings throughout the EHC Needs Assessment process. In this role, you will also support colleagues in the wider SEND Team to amend EHC Plan’s at key points of transition and will be required to represent the LA at Annual Reviews.
About you:
Applicants must be excellent communicators, verbally and in the written from, self-motivated with a high level of organisational skills, being able to work within prescribed timescales and deadlines. Applicants will need strong interpersonal skills, have strong emotional resilience and able to work under pressure. A strong work ethic and a passion for this area of work.

The SEND team has an obligation to meet the statutory guidelines of the Special Educational Needs (SEN&D) Code of Practice. Our main responsibly is to focus on supporting families through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) process, writing EHC plans and attending review meetings with families. We work closely with a range of key partners and stakeholders’ professionals, which results in effective multiagency working. We provide support to families, schools and colleges and other educational settings to ensure children and young people are educated appropriately in the right setting to meet their needs. We will provide you with a supportive working environment and give you the opportunity to learn and develop further within the organisation.
