Glasswell and Last Ltd are a long established Electrical and Mechanical contractor.
We are looking for Electrical Designers & Electrical CAD Technicians to join our in-house team. Who are carrying out a number of surveys and subsequent design alongside our partners within the water industry.
This position is based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk with travelling to various sites around East Anglia and further afield required.
As an Electrical Designer you will be expected to assist the existing design team with the following tasks.
· Site Surveys
· Thermographic Surveys
· Single line diagrams / Block cable diagrams / Cable termination drawings
· System architectural diagrams
· Cable calculations
· Site layout drawings
· Bill of materials/Quotations
· Control Panel drawings
· Lighting Designs
Experience sought:
Excellent communication skills are required to liaise with clients, subcontractors and other involved in the design process.
You must be well organised and able to work independently and as a team.
Designing electrical services.
Knowledge of BS7671 and other applicable electrical standards for the UK.
High standard of written and spoken English.
Full UK drivers licence essential.
Other advantageous experience:
HNC/HND level in building services or electrical engineering or degree equivalent or strong previous site experience.
Process and instrumentation experience.
Using Microsoft Visio, Projects, DIALux, Eplan and Amtech software knowledge.
Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical to produce 2D drawings.
Previous experience working within the utility sector.
As an Electrical CAD Technician you will be expected to assist the existing design team with the following tasks.
* Production of accurate drawings, as built documentation and other required design outputs i.e bills of quantities, manufacturer's technical datasheets.
* Effective use of document management techniques within a BIM environment i.e. uploading drawings for review and approval and ensuring amendments are captured.
* To liaise with the project management team to develop project costings.
* To liaise with our installation teams and clarify technical details, taking on board feedback and improvements for future projects.
Experience Sought:
* Experience with Autodesk software such as: AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
* Good computer skills, with experience using common software packages like MS Word, Excel.
* Full UK driving licence and use of your own car (Mileage reimbursed in line with HMRC rates should you have to use your own vehicle for business travel)
Other advantageous experience:
* Ability to create 3D models using Autodesk Inventor from various stages of design input.
* A recognised time served apprenticeship in a related discipline.
* ONC, OND, HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline.
