Job overview
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, Consultant Psychiatrist/Medical Psychotherapist to join our Personality disorder (PD) service within the London Borough of Lewisham. This is a six month fixed term post (paternity cover)
The post is a 7 PA post, ideally divided as 5 PA for DCC and 2 PA for SPA
The LPDS was established in September 2020.
It is a specialist Tier three psychotherapy service for patients with Personality disorder.
The service assesses and treats patients with an Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and other moderate-severe personality disorders. Patients with Antisocial Personality Disorder are excluded, as are those dependent on drugs or alcohol, or those who are severely underweight (BMI below 18.5).

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will divide time within the developed specialist Lewisham PD service and also provide Clinical Supervision of the SUN Project.
Apart from taking on a clinical role, the post holder will also undertake a leadership role and work closely with the Head of service in establishing the service and maintaining all aspects of governance.
The post holder will need to be flexible and adaptable to both working with and leading developments in the service.
The postholder will supervise the Core Trainee on their 6 month placement. The CT is integral to co-facilitating SUN, processing referrals, and managing medical or pharmacological issues in the service.
The Specialist PD Service is based at The Wallace Centre, Deptford. The post-holder will have office accommodation. You will not only have the opportunity to work closely with the MDT within your own service but also to liaise and meet with your consultant peers and other staff in Lewisham.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provide Consultant input and contribute as member of the clinical leadership team of the Personality Disorder service and SUN project.
* Provide Consultant input to triage system for referrals into Personality Disorder service as required.
* When acting as Approved Clinician to take consultant responsibility and oversee assessment and management of patients, including medication regimes, advising and working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team. ·
* Assist with diagnosis, medication reviews, management plans, risk assessments, crisis plans and self-help plans for patients with complex mental health problems..
* Work with Personality Disorder service to develop a collaborative care model for patients with disorders falling within the remit of the team.
* Provide clinical assessments of patients as necessary. ·
* Provide follow up as necessary for clients within teams.

Person specification
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register with CCT or equivalent, in Psychotherapy or dual CCT in Psychotherapy and General Adult Psychiatry OR within six months of doing so
* Approved clinician status and under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
* Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
* Experience in other relevant specialties such as general adult psychiatry (inpatient and community settings)

* Excellent knowledge in specialty
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
