Responsibilities and duties of the O&M Assistant role As the O&M Assistant you will: Operate and monitor plant systems safely and efficiently in accordance with operational and environmental standards. Support planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including emergency repairs and plant adjustments. Conduct routine inspections to identify and report equipment defects, hazards, and operational issues. Maintain high standards of plant cleanliness and housekeeping at all times. Ensure compliance with environmental permits, waste management regulations, and site safety procedures. Safely operate vehicles, lifting tools, and equipment as required for plant operations. Accurately record operational data, maintenance activities, and inspection findings in site reporting systems. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Previous experience in a plant operations, waste management, energy, or industrial maintenance environment. Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and compliance requirements. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and performing manual or heavy-lifting tasks. Good IT literacy and ability to use computer-based monitoring and reporting systems. Personal skills Strong work ethic with a practical, safety-conscious mindset. Level-headed and reliable under pressure, particularly during plant upsets or emergencies. Collaborative and proactive, with a positive attitude toward continuous improvement and teamwork.
