Overview
It’s a fantastic time to work for the Environment Agency as we tackle the climate emergency. Join the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) directorate in the Improvements Portfolio to help deliver over £150m of improvements in the next three years. You will start up and inform new projects, support live projects, build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office, and help embed portfolio management and data practices. This role suits someone with data analytics and/or project management skills seeking experience at programme/portfolio level. This role includes an incident response component as part of our continuity and incident management.
Responsibilities
* Start up and inform new projects, support project managers, and help assure live projects.
* Build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office and improve and embed Portfolio management and data practices.
* Contribute to the delivery of outcomes that protect communities and businesses from flooding.
* Support the professional portfolio, programme and project management service across the FCRM directorate, contributing to national business improvement, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Respond to incidents as part of the incident role (usually virtual); be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity during incidents (may attract additional payment and training).
* Work in a flexible and collaborative environment with stakeholders across National and Area teams.
Experience and qualifications
* Formal project / programme management experience is essential.
* Highly numerate with strong data gathering, manipulation and interpretation skills; able to handle large datasets and multiple users. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with Power BI/Tableau (or similar) is desirable.
* Experience in a project support role in a complex organization using Agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Administrative and organizational skills, supporting regular governance meetings (agenda and minutes).
* Financial data management and project planning skills are desirable.
* Able to gain credibility and collaboration across the business through appropriate behaviors.
* Experience in tackling and automating routine issues with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Ability to work with uncertainty and find innovative solutions to problems.
