Following a significant investment in their facility and equipment, our client is looking for a commercially driven, revenue-focused Managing Director to lead their precision engineering business through its most ambitious growth phase to date.
This is a long-term appointment for a proven leader who is ready to take the helm of an established business with real momentum behind it. Working closely with the owners, the successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape strategy, build their team, and own the commercial agenda from day one.
The ambition is clear — to grow from £5m to £20m turnover over the next five years. The investment is in place. Now they need the right person to make it happen.
About the business
Our client is a well-established precision engineering business based in Doncaster, operating in the metals and engineering sector. They have a strong foundation, a loyal customer base, and a newly invested state-of-the-art facility ready to support significant scale.
The mandate
* Define and execute a commercial growth strategy to quadruple turnover within five years
* Develop new market opportunities and revenue streams alongside protecting and growing existing accounts
* Maximise the return on the recent capital investment in the facility and equipment
* Build the leadership team and organisational structure required to support ambitious scale
* Work in close partnership with the owners, providing clear reporting and strategic direction
What they are looking for
* A commercially led Managing Director or senior leader with a strong track record of revenue growth in precision engineering, metals, or a closely related manufacturing sector
* Experience taking a business through a significant scaling phase — ideally from SME to mid-market
* A confident, credible operator who can win new business, develop key accounts, and build a high-performing sales and operations function
* Someone who understands the technical language of precision engineering and can speak with authority to customers, suppliers, and the shop floor alike
* Financially literate, with the ability to manage P&L, set budgets, and drive margin alongside top-line growth
* A natural leader who can attract, develop, and retain talent as the business scales
