Team Lead Solicitor – Litigation (Landlord & Tenant) / Legal Executive (CILEx)\n

Location: Uckfield, East Sussex
Contract: Full‑time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Office‑based

The Opportunity\n

A well‑established and respected legal practice in East Sussex is seeking an experienced Solicitor or CILEx Lawyer to take on a Team Lead role within its Landlord and Tenant Litigation Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident litigation lawyer who is ready to step into (or further develop) a leadership position within a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. You will play a central role in managing people, processes, and complex litigation work, while helping to drive the continued growth and efficiency of the department.

The Role\n

As Team Lead, you will oversee a busy litigation department handling a broad range of landlord and tenant matters, including standard and accelerated possession claims and defended proceedings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and supervising fee earners and paralegals
• Allocating workloads and monitoring performance
• Developing and implementing process plans from claim inception through to eviction
• Conducting 1‑to‑1 reviews and managing annual leave schedules
• Handling complaints and reporting to compliance officers
• Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, and third parties
• Reviewing and improving departmental procedures and time‑recording systems
• Attending legal update conferences (virtual and in‑person)

Alongside your managerial duties, you will also:

• Undertake fee‑earning work on defended and complex matters
• Draft legal documentation and comply with court directions
• Issue possession claims via online systems and manual applications
• Prepare instructions for counsel and advocates
• Produce possession notices and maintain case management records

\nAbout You\n

This role would suit a motivated and organised litigation lawyer who enjoys responsibility and leadership.

You will ideally have:

• Qualification as a Solicitor (2+ years’ PQE) or CILEx Lawyer
• Managerial experience, or readiness to step into a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant litigation (training available if required)
• Solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
• Excellent IT and case management skills
• Confidence dealing with clients, courts, and third parties
• The ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
• High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
• A proactive, flexible, and solutions‑focused approach

\nWorking Hours & Location\n

• Office‑based role in Uckfield, East Sussex
• Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1‑hour lunch)
