Job Description
We are working on behalf of our prestigious client, a UK market leader in manufactured waste management vehicles. The client’s brand is recognized on leading waste management company cab fronts across the United Kingdom. They are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and dynamic multi-disciplined HGV Field Service Engineer to join their team.
Job Purpose
To carry out servicing and repair to a range of chassis and vehicle‑mounted municipal equipment at both customer premises and company workshops.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out repairs and servicing to HGVs and associated mounted municipal equipment.
* Job management.
* Maintain quality and customer satisfaction.
* Adhere to health and safety standards.
* Work as a mobile technician with a company van (business use only).
* Execute ad‑hoc tasks requested by management.
Role Details
Location: Reading. Working hours: 45 hours per week, 9 hours per day, Monday to Friday with flexible start and finish times based on customer requirements. Overtime rates: Monday‑Friday after 45 hours x1.5, Saturday x1.5, Sunday x2, Bank holidays x2 plus a day off in lieu.

Qualifications
Essential
* Proven knowledge of health and safety practices.
* Proven knowledge of existing customer base and vehicles.
* Previous service engineer or customer‑facing role.
* 1+ year’s experience in a comparable company.
* 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of RCVs or similar equipment.
* Experience of body and chassis maintenance and repair.
* Current PLG licence.
* Year 3 C&G training or equivalent.
* Health and safety qualification.
Desirable
* HGV product training.
* Experience with hydraulics and wiring diagrams.
* Basic IT and basic administration skills.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to write formal reports on technical issues.
* Ability to work under own initiative.
* Good customer service ethos.
* Professional image.
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the UK.
* Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
* Willingness to stay away from home when required.
* Willingness to travel internationally.
