It’s a game-changer — and we need someone who’s ready to lead from the front.
This newly created role reports to the Smart Operations Centre Manager and plays a pivotal part in shaping the future of our metering operations. You’ll lead a high-performing team, collaborate across departments, and work closely with our Alternative Metering Service (AMS) Partner and other third parties to deliver operational excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead, coach, and develop the metering support team to achieve KPIs and drive engagement
* Oversee day-to-day metering operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance
* Identify and resolve process gaps, driving continuous improvement across BAU activities
* Manage stakeholder relationships and third-party performance to ensure seamless delivery
* Monitor and report on operational performance, escalating issues where needed
* Define and implement process improvements, training plans, and reporting frameworks
* Align operations with Southern Water’s smart metering strategy and long-term goals
What You’ll Bring
* Proven leadership experience in operational teams, ideally within utilities or metering
* Strong understanding of metering operations and business-as-usual processes
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
* A customer-first mindset and a passion for solving complex operational challenges
* Analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making
* Experience managing third-party vendors and performance metrics
* Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
* Background in customer service
* Proven team management and leadership experience
Desirable
* Knowledge of smart metering technologies
* Experience in the utilities industry
