Due to some forthcoming happy news, we have a temporary postin our supportive, clinically driven team.

We are therefore looking for a 4-7 session GP to join us ona 12 month contract, in the first instance, ideally starting November /December 2025


Main duties of the job

We are looking for a GP to share our routine and urgent work alongside the 6 GP partners, 8 salaried GPs and team of AHPs.

We are supported by an exceptional team of practitioners who manage our minor illness and visits, driven nursing and admin teams who share our commitment to patient care, and a growing team of ARRS Clinical Pharmacists, a Livingwell social prescribing Team and Specialist Paramedic Practitioners.

We are fortunate to have our HCRG Community colleagues on site which includes District Nurses, Community Physio, Community Midwives, Occupational Therapists, a Speech Therapist and also outpatient clinics from the Royal United Hospital and GWH.

Our current GPs value our inclusive team environment and the daily lunchtime clinician catch ups. We are a training practice, committed to Quality Improvement and we try our hardest to balance workload with a commitment to providing the highest possible levels patient care, and are keen to show flexibility in terms of days/ sessions wherever we can.

Job responsibilities

* In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available toundertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries,visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork, referrals and correspondence in a timely manner.
* In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will BE asked to cover some 'duty' sessions on a pro rata basis, which would BE discussed and agreed in advanced
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referredor referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols,developing care plans for health.
* Providing counselling and health education.
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers asappropriate.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this isclinically appropriate.]
* In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilitiesassociated with a GP working within primary care.
* Complete care plans required for local enhanced services.
* Participate in Enhanced Services work required within the practice, and there may be a requirement to complete extended hours in line with our contractual obligations in the future.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* A medical practitioner whose name is included in the
* General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the
* General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
* Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the
* Medical Act 1983
* Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of
* Completion of Training CCT)
* Currently on performers list and not suspended from
* that list or from the medical register
* DBS clearance
* Have had an annual NHS appraisal


Experience

* Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK
* Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment
* Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality
* and Outcome Framework (QOF)


Knowledge and Skillls

* Knowledge of NHS
* Have an understanding of the needs of the vulnerable groups of
* patients that are registered
* Understand the health and social needs of a local practice
* Commitment to personal and professional development
* Commitment to education and training
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Understanding of the current issues and challenges facing
* primary care
* Fully conversant with clinical IT systems
* Good analytical skills
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical
* care of patients
* Imaginative approach to problem solving and provision of
* services
