Job Description
Epsilon Systems is seeking a Temporary Electrician II for the Modernization and Engineering division located in Portsmouth, VA.
Summary
Performs a variety of complex electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of electronics and/or electrical equipment for the distribution or utilization of electric energy onboard U.S. vessels or government installations.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Reports directly to the Production Manager or the project Foreman.
2. Performs troubleshooting of components and systems to diagnose issues and recommend cost-effective repairs.
3. Performs and verifies mechanical alignments.
4. Ensures control and responsibility for Level-1 material controls per company instructions.
5. Installs, repairs, overhauls, or modifies electronic or electro-mechanical systems and components.
6. Assists with on-site field service, system checkouts, minor repairs, and configuration validation.
7. Prepares and installs equipment or system alterations following directives and technical documentation.
8. Notifies supervisors of any unsatisfactory conditions during operations.
9. Maintains good housekeeping and safety practices, including PPE usage.
10. Works on shipboard or in-shop to electrical or electro-mechanical systems and components.
11. Uses blueprints, drawings, and specifications to perform inspections, testing, and troubleshooting.
12. Performs calculations related to load requirements and uses various hand tools and testing devices.
13. Ensures conformance to shipboard requirements and safety standards.
14. Performs electrical testing, assembly of connectors, and installation of motors and brushes.
15. Completes inspections and resurfacing of commutators and slip rings.
16. Performs additional tasks outside of trade as necessary.
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent, or vocational training.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience as a marine electrician.
* Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard items and energized circuit work.
* Qualified in at least two processes such as connector assembly, fiber optic testing, soldering, or electrical design.
* Training in connector fabrication and inspection per MIL-STD-2003-5B (SH).
* Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
* Basic math skills and proficiency in reading and understanding technical documents in English.
* Ability to obtain access to military and government installations and travel as required.

* Requires walking, reaching, sitting, and concentration amidst noise.
* Ability to navigate narrow passageways, ladders, and antenna masts.
* Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
* Manual dexterity for manipulating small objects and tools.
* Color perception and PPE requirements.
