Start Date: September 2025
As a Special Education Teacher, you will:
* Teach pupils with autism (low to high support), SEN, and communication differences in a small, nurturing classroom environment
* Plan, adapt, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual needs and EHCP targets
* Work closely with Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to create a consistent, low-arousal, and safe classroom space
* Use specialist strategies (e.g. visuals, AAC, TEACCH, sensory regulation) to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
* Foster self-confidence, life skills, and communication for pupils working at a variety of academic and developmental levels
This role is ideal for:
* Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS) with a background in SEN, SEMH, or ASD provision
* Mainstream teachers with experience and a genuine interest in transitioning into a specialist setting
* Reflective, compassionate educators who value inclusion, equity, and relationship-based practice
* Teachers committed to continuous professional development in trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming methods
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver highly personalised teaching to pupils aged 5–16 with SEN and autism
* Design and adapt lessons across the curriculum and in life skills, supporting holistic development
* Lead and support your class team of LSAs and collaborate with therapists and families
* Implement evidence-based approaches to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation
* Track progress and report on pupil achievement in relation to individual targets and EHCP outcomes

Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) – ECTs are welcome to apply
* Proven or developing experience in SEN, alternative provision, or autism education
* Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and inclusive classroom practices
* Calm, empathetic, and resilient – with excellent classroom leadership and flexibility
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
