Your new role
We’re excited to be looking for a new Head of Information Governance (Data Protection Officer) to lead, develop and manage our expert team of data professionals and be responsible for the strategic and operational aspects of data compliance and information governance within Abri.
You’ll make sure that the confidentiality and integrity of our stakeholder data remains at the heart of everything we do - it’s our priority that we maintain the highest standards, striving not only to be compliant with the law but to meet our customer’s expectations that we protect their data as if it were our own. You’ll be responsible for making sure that we do the right thing by our customers, colleagues and other stakeholders when dealing with personal information.
No two days will be the same in this role so enthusiasm, a can-do attitude and a genuine passion for going the extra mile will be essential as you’ll be championing data excellence throughout the organisation.
Key aspects of the role include ensuring that statutory data protection legislation and the regulatory requirements of the Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRS) are met. The role also involves leading the development of information governance policies and procedures, supporting best-practice decision making, and monitoring compliance.
In addition, the position is responsible for managing risk, ensuring that customer and colleague rights requests are fulfilled, and handling data breaches while acting as the primary contact for supervisory authorities and data subjects and ensuring Abri is represented at sector-level data governance forums.
You’ll have a strong work ethic, thorough knowledge of data protection laws and a proven track record in using IT in a smart way to manage data. An excellent communicator: confident, clear and assertive when necessary since you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the business and the senior leadership team on innovative ways of working, to develop and drive improvements. But most of all we hope you’ll be as passionate about excellence as we are.
You'll be based from one of our Eastleigh (SO50 6AD), Bracknell (RG12 1RF) Yeovil (BA22 8WN) or London (W10 5BN) offices a minimum of three days per week to connect and collaborate with colleagues and the other two days can be worked from at a place of your choosing whether that's at another of our offices, a cafe or at home.
We’re looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, proven leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team whilst embodying our values and behaviours.
Interview will take place on Wednesday 22 April 2026 at Collins House, Eastleigh (SO50 6AD).
