Network service operator

Operator
Posted: 1 September
Offer description

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Most people donât think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their waste water. But Scottish Water does. Frankly, itâs all we think about. Join our Field Response team in the Stirling and Falkirk Area and as an NSO youâll help our teams make sure Scotland has a constant supply of safe, high-quality water. What youâll do  Problem-solver extraordinaire, youâll make quick, accurate work of customer enquiries and network operations â helping fix any water supply problems. That might include turning your hand to valve shut-offs, identifying bursts, and more. No two days are quite the same, you will work in a fast-paced customer centric environment that is very dynamic and rewarding. Youâll also make sure tasks are completed safely, engage with internal stakeholders to resolve complex customer or network issues and provide excellent service to our customers. Youâll collect relevant data, report on customer issues and promote follow on work to recover service issues, technical requirements, GIS drawing updates, and so on. Youâll know your byelaws from your codes of practice, so you can explain whatâs what to customers. Now and then youâll carry out sampling on new mains, bursts, or customer complaints to make sure every last drop is compliant with regulatory requirements. What youâll bring  Youâll know how the water network operates â bringing knowledge of DOMS policies, reviewing risk assessment method statements, hygiene code, and access and transfer certificates. Youâll always have your health and safety hat on to keep the team and customers safe. Top-notch communication skills are essential too â our customers will turn to you for the information they need. Youâll need a valid driving licence, but weâll provide the wheels. As part of the team, youâll take your turn on the standby rota for out of-hours work too. Looking out for you  While the work we do is important, we know itâs not the only thing that matters. Thatâs why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance. There is a requirement to participate on an out of hours standby rota. But youâll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy maximum 5 more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community. When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, thereâs our pension (the âknow-what-youâll-get-when-you-retireâ kind), and life assurance. As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash â handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping. The not-so-small print   This role will be a Grade 5. If youâre new to Scottish Water, youâll join us on a starting salary of £ 32,650. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £ 38,610. If youâre interested in this role â or know someone else who might be - weâll be accepting applications until midnight on 15th of September 2025. Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Donât worry - weâll ask your permission before starting these checks. A few final things worth knowing⦠ Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If youâre interested in this job, but donât tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So donât rule yourself out!  Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. Weâre very used to making adjustments, so please donât be afraid to ask.  As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, itâs important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you donât already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.  Finally (finally!), candidates who havenât submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You wonât need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. Weâre here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk Â
