The Specialist Community Forensic Team provides support and intervention to service users transitioning from secure care to the community, offering specialist advice to mental health and other services.
The successful applicant will care coordinate a small caseload with support from an expert MDT, with opportunities to train and act as social supervisor, working alongside recovery teams. The role offers development in providing specialist advice and consultation, with training in therapeutic skills such as DBT, TIC, HCR-20, and Dundrum.
We seek a dynamic, motivated, and experienced mental health professional with at least 2 years post-qualification experience in mental health. The organization values co-production with service users and carers, who will be involved in the recruitment process.
Main duties of the job
This fixed-term role involves working as a specialist community forensic worker within a multidisciplinary team, supporting transfer from secure care to the community, and reducing re-admission risks. Responsibilities include care coordination, social supervision, specialist assessments, intervention, and care planning to support recovery goals. The role also involves preparing clinical reports for tribunals and MOJ, and building relationships across inpatient, community, and organizational services. Training and supervision are integral to the role.

Job responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for service users with severe and enduring mental health needs in various settings. The role is open to newly qualified social workers, with initial recruitment at Band 5, with progression to Band 6 upon successful completion of ASYE, in line with trust policy.
Person Specification
Essential: Registration, relevant qualification (RMN, OT, SW), minimum 2 years mental health experience.
Desirable: Community mental health experience, forensic mental health training or experience, additional training such as DBT or social supervision.
