Faculty / Directorate The Research Business and Innovation Directorate provides specialist support to the DMU research community, supporting the delivery of ambitious research targets as we broaden and deepen our research portfolio. The Doctoral College is a central function which works closely with DMU’s 3 academic faculties and 7 Research Institutes to support PGRs and their supervisors at DMU. We provide a high quality and unique service to PGRs from the point of application and admission to our university, right through to examination and graduation. Role The key purpose of this role is to ensure a seamless experience for potential postgraduate researchers (and their proposed supervisors) when they apply for a PGR programme with us. Key responsibilities will include administration of admissions, which includes but is not limited to: initial enquiries, registration, setting up of data records, administration of externally funded doctoral training consortia, induction events as well as providing specialist advice to applicants and supervisors as required. As PGR Admissions Administrator you will be a member of the Doctoral College’s administrative support team delivering an efficient and effective service to internal and external stakeholders. DMU currently has approximately 650 PGRs and has ambitions for increasing that number over the coming years. You will work under the direction of the Assistant Doctoral College Manager and manage your own workload. As well as PGR Admissions, it is expected that you will also support and develop a broad understanding of other areas of activity within the Doctoral College administration team and contribute towards continuous improvement of this small but effective team through working in a positive, proactive and professional manner. This is a permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) role. We do embrace flexible and hybrid working but due to the student-facing nature of this role, there is a requirement to work in the office a minimum of two days per week. Ideal Candidate You must have administrative experience, which specifically includes working with sensitive data in a customer-focused environment, experience of quality assurance and the ability to manage and interpret confidential data.
