A Little More About Your Role
We are looking for Assistant Delivery Leads (Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers) to manage high-value, challenging projects and programmes within the Defence and Security sector. In this role, you will report to the Delivery Lead and be responsible for delivering projects according to the project plan. Assistant Project Managers will either support larger projects and programmes or take the lead on smaller projects as Project Managers depending on experience.
Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams to scope and deliver tasks to budget, on time, and in line with client expectations and the WSP Business Management System.
* Organise meetings, write reports, control resources, and monitor finances.
* Perform traditional project management activities, including scope, resource, finance and schedule monitoring, change control, risk management, and client management.
* Oversee additional requirements of the Defence and Security sector, such as security management.
* Tackle complex building and infrastructure projects that span the RIBA design stages.
* Assist in ongoing work‑winning activities and act as an ambassador for the sector within the business.
* Work flexibly across home, WSP, and client offices, travelling as required to deliver project needs.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in the Defence and Security sector assisting in a project management capacity, delivering construction or infrastructure projects (not IT infrastructure) and demonstrating understanding of security protocols.
* Knowledge of any of the following: MOD policy, processes and procedures; JSPs, particularly JSP 850; the Green Book and 5‑case model for business cases.
* Degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering, building, quantity surveying, architecture, project or construction management).
* Progression towards a recognised project management qualification from PMI, APM, RICS, or CIOB.
* Progress towards an NEC3/4 PM qualification.
* Existing network within the Defence and Security sector.
* Eligible to achieve Security Clearance.
