Overview
Operative - Street Cleaning role at Calderdale Council. We are recruiting for a new team member to be part of the street cleaning service. The Green Spaces and Street Scene Service is responsible for maintaining the borough, including parks, play areas, countryside and woodlands, and ensuring streets are kept clear of litter and public litter bins are emptied. You will carry out tasks such as sweeping, litter picking and emptying public litter bins safely and in line with service requirements.
You will be required to manage your own workload and designated routes and demonstrate strong organisational and interpersonal skills. You should be competent in working outdoors and have a flexible approach as you will operate throughout Calderdale.
You will be expected to work outside of core hours including weekends and on standby if required, for which you will receive enhanced pay. A full UK driving licence is essential (manual car) and you must have held a Category B Licence for at least 2 years to drive a work vehicle.
Responsibilities
* Sweep streets, perform litter picking and empty public litter bins in line with service requirements
* Manage own workload and designated routes
* Work in outdoor environments with appropriate safety practices
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full UK driving licence (manual) and Category B licence held for at least 2 years
* Ability to work outdoors and adapt to a flexible schedule, including weekends
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
